Have you ever woken up fresh-faced, goal-oriented and just felt unmotivated? That’s me today. I feel my motivation today is at low levels whereas I have a ton of work to do. However, here I am writing, the one thing that needs glasses full of inspiration. My trick, you ask, is to lean on my lack of morale. Do you need to build your motivation today? Here’s how I do it
1. Stay unmotivated; for a time though.
This may seem unconventional but it is the first thing you should do. We live in a world where we are adamant to deny the negatives, yet they exist. In us, with us around us, there’s someone or something which can be categorized as negative. Whenever you have a bad feeling, a bad day, a bad experience you need to feel it and lean into it. This is the only way it’ll pass through and remain a thing of the past. So, if you’re feeling unmotivated right now, sit back and continue; time yourself though. 5 minutes, 10, half an hour, commit yourself fully to that experience so that you can get on with your intended work.
2. Do one thing you like; time yourself still
Have you leaned in your bad feeling? Now do something you like. One thing or two, Any thing. Simple or complicated, whatever it is. Whether it’s eating a banana, taking a stroll or sun bathing. Do it. This pulls you away from your motivated state and prepares you for your next endeavor. I don’t know what your thing is but I ate a sausage and stood some time under the sun, felt pretty awesome.
3. Start now
Are you now feeling better? I don’t know but I was. Whatever the case, you should start doing what you were supposed to. Lean into it too, start with what you know what makes you feel comfortable and I think you’ll flow with your work beautifully. Otherwise, do what you like simultaneously with what you have to do. I have found that that works for me sometimes.
Motivation produces better results
You might be thinking, there’s no need for it. This is what you need to do and you’ve done it. But have you never heard of the secret ingredient? That ingredient makes work and turn results better. I f you’ve ever done something while motivated, it doesn’t feel strained and you do it really well. Unless of course you really don’t want to do, motivated or not.
Have you tried my steps? Let me know how it went.
