The next step

Did you read my previous post about starting over? If you didn’t you should know that this is a new beginning for me. I thought it would be a good idea to let you in on my next step. Yes, I have decided to start over, I kinda don’t have a choice, but then what? My journey needs to be intentional, practical and disciplined. That’s what I want to talk about today, what follows after zero.

1. Write down your goals. What is it you want at the end?

This doesn’t have to be a long-term, five year plan kind of goal( unless you want it to), it can be an hour’s or day’s achievement. What is it you want to have completed today, this week, this month? Write it down so that you don’t forget. Keep reading it too to remind yourself where you want to go.

2. Know yourself and capitalize on it.

And I don’t mean some sort of deep soul searching into who you are(it can be so though). But keeping away from things you can’t do or know you don’t want to. It’s also capitalizing on the things you love doing, places you’re comfortable being and people you love being around.

You know what works for you. If you don’t, be aware and note how you feel being somewhere, with someone or doing something? Does it feel good, peaceful, tranquil? Or are you tired, bugged, do you wish you were elsewhere?

3. Do what you want to; it is the road to your authentic self.

I can hear your grumbles and don’t worry, I relate. You’re thinking, you can’t really do what you want to. But, you can, you just don’t choose to. At the end of the day, pardon the cliche, every single thing you’ve done has been a choice by you. Well, in adulthood moreso. So whatever we went through, people we blame, places we’ve been; the buck stops at us.

This is the final action in my next step. All you’ve got to ask is point 1 and 2. Does it lead you to where you want to go and is it something you can do? If so, then do what you want to; it is the road to your authentic self.

Thank you for spreading the love
